All of our surgeries will be closed from 1pm on Thursday 18th July for planned protected learning time. This protected learning time is happening in all Cwm Taf Morganwwg GP surgeries.

If you require urgent medical care between 1pm - 6:30pm 18/07/24,please call the surgery number 01443203414 and it will provide you with the number to call. After 6:30pm the normal out of hours service will resume by calling 111.

BT broadband issue affecting phone lines 12 Dec 2023

Unfortunately, BT Broadband is down again, as it was a few weeks ago. We have diverted our main number to a mobile phone and will try to take calls as quickly as we can, but we will only have 1 line.

TELEPHONE ISSUES 20 Nov 2023

We are having issues with our telephones due to BT broadband being down.

We are due a BT engineer on 21/11/23 and BT are working remotely to try and resolve the issue. We have managed to divert our Main telephone number to a mobile phone, but this means that we only have 1 line coming into the Surgery until this issue is fixed.

Econsult is open during practice opening hours.

URINE SAMPLE ANNOUNCEMENT 

Important Information for Patients who bring in Urine Specimens for Testing from Monday 04/04/2022

 There have been important changes made to the way that the surgery now collects in Urine Samples for testing.

The decision to make these changes was made after analysing some recent research, to ensure that the current system is in keeping with the latest clinical evidence and practice.

In the future, we will now only accept Urine Specimens at reception which:

1. Have been requested by a GP or nurse (we need to know who)

If you think that you are suffering from a Water Infection (UTI) please consider visiting your local pharmacist or check your symptoms on 111 symptom checker. If they recommend a doctor’s review please telephone reception who will, depending on availability arrange a telephone appointment with an Advanced Nurse Practitioner or GP.

When the Advanced Nurse Practitioner/GP call they will discuss your symptoms and treat the condition as appropriate. You may be asked to drop off a urine sample, but not in all cases.

Please DO NOT bring a urine sample to the practice unless you have been asked to by the Doctor/Advance Nurse Practitioner.

Vaccination update 05/03/21

We have now tried to contact everyone who is aged over 65 years(group 5). Anyone we have not been able to contact, we have sent out a letter to ask them to contact us.
If you are over 65 and think that you have been missed or you need to register as a carer, please email us at enquiries.w95011@wales.nhs.uk with your name and date of birth.

We have moved onto group 6(high risk 16-64 years and unpaid carers). We are up to the letter E in the high risk group and the letter J on carers list.

Our vaccine delivery was small this week at 160 vaccines, but from next week onwards supplies increase significantly up to 1100. We should have made contact with all of group 6 by the end of next week (we hope).
Once we have finished group 6, we will be moving onto 2nd vaccinations from 29th March for the over 80’s and will work through in order, as we did on the first dose. Your date for your 2nd vaccine is the same as the date you were given when you had your first dose.

Groups 7,8 and 9 will be vaccinated by the mass vaccination centres. We are unable to give a date, so please don’t call us to ask.

We are receiving a record number of phone calls and econsults at the moment, which is putting us under extreme pressure. Please please don’t phone us or econsult unless your need is important. We are getting a lot of contacts asking us when and where they are going to receive their vaccine, as well as lots of queries as to whether you or someone else fits into group 6. We just don’t have the capacity to do the day to day, vaccinate and answer all of your query’s too.

The message is still the same as it’s always been, please don’t contact your GP surgery to ask questions about the vaccine. There is lots of information on public health Wales and the Welsh government websites, which answer most questions. We realise that people are still very worried and we or the mass vaccination centres will get to you soon. The Welsh target is everyone over 50 to have their first vaccination by end of April, which we are very confident will be achieved.

Principle Trial 9 Nov 2020

Parc Canol Group Practice is taking part in the national PRINCIPLE clinical trial, which aims to find low-risk treatments for older people with COVID-19 that can be taken at home.

To be eligible to join the trial you will need to have experienced symptoms that are likely to be caused by COVID-19 for fewer than 15 days.

The trial is open to people aged 65 or over, or aged 50–64 with an underlying health condition.

Spar Ltd Donates money to replace GP stolen bike 1 Jul 2020

Dr Marsh wants to give a big thanks to Spar Ltd.

His bike was stolen recently after a hard day at work outside the spa in Cowbridge Road in Cardiff.

After posting the theft on social media he was contacted by Mr Ian Diment HR director at Spar who very generously offered to replace the bike.

He is in possession of a new bike now and is actually using it!

Our Waiting Room Re-Opens 26 Jun 2020

We would like to inform our patients that we will be re-opening our waiting room in Church Village and Church Village Pharmacy on Monday 29/06/20 subject to social distancing and also the use of face coverings. If you have a face to face appointment with any healthcare professional, it is important that you don’t enter the waiting room until 5 mins before your appointment time. The self check-in screen is now available to use and hand gel available at the side. If you are picking up your medication from the pharmacy then please don’t queue inside the building, please wait until the pharmacy window is free. Prescriptions will still be collected from the side window.
